Westfield W-League glory up for grabs on ABC TV

An epic finale to the Westfield W-League looms as Perth Glory hosts Canberra United on ABC TV LIVE on Sunday at 3pm nationally.

The free-scoring Glory are aiming for their maiden Westfield W-League crown but they face a strong challenge from the ever-improving Canberra United who possess significant big-game experience.

And while the result remains uncertain, it seems entertainment is assured. The Glory have netted an incredible 42 goals in 13 matches this term to set a season-record tally. Canberra, for their part, boasts their own pacy and attractive attack.

The match also brings together the two greatest goalscorers in the competition’s history: Perth Glory’s Kate Gill and Canberra United’s Michelle Heyman.

Canberra appear as well equipped to see off the premiers as any team in the competition. Perth have swept all before them this season winning the league in a canter, yet they fell to a dramatic defeat in Canberra just a fortnight ago.

It would be a major surprise if Sunday’s season decider is not tight, tense and drama-laden leaving local fans and national TV viewers as winners.

The ABC TV broadcast games are hosted by Stephanie Brantz, with former Westfield Matildas and W-League star Sarah Walsh joining Peter Wilkins in commentary.

Catch all the action Live nationally at 3.00pm Sunday (broadcast commences at 12midday in WA) on ABC TV, or catch up from Monday on ABC iView with a full replay each Tuesday at 3.30am.
