Melbourne City have opened up a five-point lead at the summit of the Westfield W-League thanks to another win, this time 4-2 over Canberra United.
City raced to an early 2-0 lead and a 3-1 half-time advantage over the reigning champions in the first start for high-profile recruit Kim Little.
Adelaide United jumped into second with perhaps the result of the weekend as the Lady Reds claimed a 4-0 win at Melbourne Victory that was built around a Rosie Sutton treble.
It was much tighter at Sydney FC where the Sky Blues triumphed over Perth Glory thanks to Kyah Simon’s early penalty.
Saturday’s lone match saw Western Sydney Wanderers claim their first win of the season as Canadian international Carmelina Moscato netted with almost the last touch of the contest for a 2-1 win in front of a big Newcastle Jets crowd.
The Westfield W-League resumes next weekend highlighted by Sunday’s Fox Sports/ABC TV match as Brisbane Roar host Perth Glory.
