Ahead of the two-game series against China next week, a number of Westfield Matildas will be looking to impress in Round 4 of the Westfield W-League.
Here are just some of the Aussie stars in action this weekend.
ARNOLD, BUTT, GORRY, POLKINGHORNE AND RASO
Brisbane Roar boast an impressive five Westfield Matildas in their ranks – and six when Emily Gielnik returns – and they’ll be looking to build on last week’s 1-0 win away to Western Sydney by overcoming Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium.
The match will also mark Butt’s 100th appearance for the Roar.
SIMON, CATLEY, KENNEDY AND LOGARZO
Melbourne City striker Kyah Simon has returned with a bang following an extended injury layoff, with the attacker netting twice in the opening three rounds.
At the other end, defensive duo Steph Catley and Alanna Kennedy will be eager to help Lydia Williams keep a clean sheet after conceding six goals in the opening three rounds.
They won’t have it all their own way on Saturday as Chloe Logarzo, one of three Sydney FC players in Australia’s squad, leads the Sky Blues’ bid to snap a run of three straight losses to start to the season.
CARPENTER, HEYMAN AND VAN EGMOND
Alen Stajcic will have liked what he saw from Canberra United pair Ellie Carpenter and Michelle Heyman as they turned in commanding performances in Round 3.
Their next assignment is a visit to Emily van Egmond’s Newcatle Jets on Sunday.
LAURA ALLEWAY
The experienced defender will have her hands full as Melbourn Victory travel to Perth to tackle last season’s Grand Finalists Glory.
Victory are coming off the bye and will be keen to bounce back from their Round 2 derby loss to City.
