The Westfield Matildas will start assembling in Melbourne today ahead of this week’s two-match friendly series against China.
And many of Alen Stajcic’s squad come into camp in fine form after strong performances in the Westfield W-League over the weekend.
SAM SCORES AGAIN AND AGAIN
Look out China – Sam Kerr is bang in form.
The Perth Glory striker continued her sensational goalscoring exploits in 2017, scoring a brace in Glory’s 3-1 win over Melbourne Victory.
With six goals for her country this year and coming off a record-breaking season in the NWSL, Kerr is set to cause China’s defenders all sorts of problems in Victoria.
AUSSIES ON TARGET
There were other Westfield Matildas in goalscoring action over the weekend in the Westfield W-League.
Hayley Raso was Brisbane’s hero against Adelaide United on Friday night.
The 21-cap Westfield Matildas striker fired home the winner with time running out and will come into camp full of confidence that she can add to her solitary international goal.
Alanna Kennedy and Larissa Crummer were also on the scoresheet, scoring Melbourne City’s goals in a 3-2 defeat to Sydney FC.
And Emily van Egmond was on target from the penalty spot for Newcastle.
KEEPING THEM OUT
At the other end, McKenzie Arnold kept a clean sheet for Brisbane on Friday night.
And Adelaide’s Eliza Campbell was only beaten late on by Raso’s deflected effort.
