It’s the day the club will walk out for their first-ever match in the competition and marks the start of a journey they hope will end with glory come the end of the campaign.

While the newly-assembled players will be the ones that most of the focus will be on, the opening game has extra meaning for coach Mark Rudan with United heading to Wellington to take on his former club, Phoenix.

Rudan did a superb job across the ditch last season and there were many at the Nix hoping he would hang around to continue his excellent work.
They’ll only be too happy to try and spoil his first game in charge of his new side.
