Western United have locked in their second match: a clash with Victorian outfit Preston Lions.
Mark Rudan’s side will continue preparations for their inaugural Hyundai A-League tilt by hosting State League 1 leaders Preston at City Vista Pavilion and Sports Field on Thursday 29th of August, with kick off at 7.00pm AEST.

United played their inaugural match at the same venue, which is based in the west Melbourne suburb of Fraser Rise, on Thursday 22nd of August.
A hearty gathering of a over 3,000 fans watched on as the club beat Carolina Springs George Cross 4-0.

24-year-old attacker Valentino Yuel – who signed for United in March from Bentleigh Greens – etched his name into the club folklore by scoring the club’s first ever goal with a bullet first half header, while Connor Pain, Dylan Pierias and Apostolos Stamatelopoulos also got on the scoresheet.

Ersan Gulum was handed the captain’s armband by Rudan – who deployed his charges in a three at the back formation on the evening – while marquee men Panagiotis Kone and Alessandro Diamanti also started.
Western United will play their first ever Hyundai A-League match away from home against Wellington Phoenix on October 2013 in a match that sees Rudan face up against the team he guided to the Finals Series in 2018/19 before walking out with a year on his contract.
