Western United are going to play Sydney FC and Adelaide United in pre-season friendlies next month.
Mark Rudan’s side will get their first taste of Hyundai A-League opposition as part of a pre-season festival of football in Ballarat in late September.
“From a football perspective, a competitive hit out against A-League opposition is vital at this time of year,” Rudan said.

But the September fixtures against reigning Champions Sydney FC and FFA Cup 2018 holders Adelaide will be the fledgling club’s biggest test yet.
“We are looking forward to facing Western United,” Sydney boss Steve Corica said.
“It’s exciting to be playing the new team which will give us a chance to see what they are about before the season starts when there are points up for grabs.”
