Western United FC v Western Sydney Wanderers: match preview

Western United FC will take on their first opponents from NSW when high-flying Western Sydney Wanderers head to Geelong on Saturday night (kick-off 7.30pm AEDT).

Both clubs have enjoyed strong starts to the campaign, especially the Wanderers who are in a share of top spot after only dropping their first points this season last weekend in the stalemate against Brisbane Roar.

Markus Babbel’s side have suffered a couple of injury blows but confidence shouldn’t be an issue against the Hyundai A-League’s newest club.

United should also be buzzing after their remarkable win over Melbourne Victory in Round 4, coming from two goals down for a statement 3-2 win.

But there are yet to win a match on their home ground, including a defeat to Melbourne City at GMHBA Stadium a fortnight ago.
