Western Sydney Wanderers will be out to avoid equalling an unwanted club record when Western United FC head to Bankwest Stadium on Friday night.
Last weekend’s loss to Perth Glory has extended the Wanderers’ losing streak to five games and seen them drop out of the top six for the first time this season.
Another defeat against a resurgent United and Markus Babbel’s troops will equal the club’s worst-ever losing streak (six games) set last season.
So the visit of a United team that has won their last two matches won’t exactly fill the Red and Black with any confidence.
The competition new-boys are sitting third and playing with a belief and steel that makes them a very dangerous opponent.
In skipper Alessandro Diamanti – who has played a season-high 112 passes into the box – they have a proven match-winner, while the likes of Besart Berisha, Panagiotis Kone, Andrew Durante and Ersan Gulum are in fine form.
The two sides have already met this season, with United prevailing 2-1 in Geelong back in Round 5.
