Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the signing of Germany youth international Sonny Kittel on loan from Raków Częstochowa until the end of the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-Leagues season.
Kittel, 31, arrives in Wanderland with an impressive footballing CV, including eight seasons and more than 270 appearances in Germany at Eintracht Frankfurt, Ingolstadt and Hamburg, scoring 60 goals.
Kittel represented Germany from U16’s through to U20’s and has both UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League experience under his belt.
Upon signing for the Wanderers, Kittel delivered high praise to Australian football and its fans as he prepares for the next chapter in his career.
“I’m looking forward to a new league, new stadiums, new opponents and new teammates. It’s going to be exciting!” said Kittel.
“Australia has a strong league, Sydney is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the Wanderers supporters are well-known in Australia for a passionate fanbase.
“My family and I are happy about making this step and adding a completely new chapter to our football journey.”
Wanderers head coach Marko Rudan expressed his delight at bringing a player of Kittel’s calibre to the club.
“We are delighted to have a player of Sonny’s quality join us for the remainder of our A-Leagues campaign and are eager for he will bring to the group,” Rudan said.
