Wellington striker calls for stability after win over Roar

Wellington forward Roy Krishna hopes Saturday’s shock 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar can set the tone for a more settled Phoenix to attack the Hyundai A-League top six.

Krishna scored his side’s second goal as Wellington snapped their five-match winless run with only their second ever victory at Suncorp Stadium.

Phoenix keep touch with top six after stunning Roar

The win makes for a bright end to a rough week for Phoenix, who dropped Roly Bonevacia, Tom Doyle and Ryan Lowry from their squad following a “lack of professionalism” last weekend.

Wellington Phoenix players celebrate a goal in their 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar.

“There is drama but at the end (of the day) we’ve got to do our jobs,” Krishna told Fox Sports.

“I think the starting 11 did a great job and credit goes to them. For the next league game hopefully we’re going to stick to the same 11.

“The ones who are out will have to dig deep to get into the starting 11.”

Wellington’s surprise success in Queensland means they remain at least temporarily two points shy of Western Sydney Wanderers.

Krishna says there is a clear method to keeping the pressure on the top six.

“We just needed three points. Nothing else,” the Fiji international said.

“We’ve got to win and (now we’re) looking for the next one.”
