E Rere Te Keo, a Maori inscription, specifically recognises Wellington as home “the resounding call” of the taniwha Ngake, urging the team to strive to work even harder heading into this season.

“Wearing these stripes gives you that lift that everyone in the City is behind you and that will give us the confidence to do great things this season,” skipper Andrew Durante said.

“The main bold black and yellow stripes of the home jersey is very much the identity of the Wellington Phoenix

“Having been at the club for so long, I have immersed myself in the club so I understand what it means for the fans to follow this club every year.

“I know that they respect hard work and passion and we are more determined than ever to fight and deliver results on the pitch this year.”

Durante, who was part of the Phoenix team who last made the Hyundai A-League Finals Series in 2013/14, said he would love to replicate that this season under new coach Mark Rudan.

“At the end of the day, football is all about results and we know what needs to be done.

“Since Mark (Rudan) has come in, there is a positive vibe all around the club in anticipation for the season ahead and we are more than confident of reaching the heights we have done in the past.”

The range can be purchased from the official Wellington Phoenix online store phoenixshop.co.nz, the club’s official retail merchandise partner footballcentral.co.nz, and at major sporting goods retailers, adidas stores, and online at www.adidas.co.nz.
