Wellington Phoenix sign injury replacement striker

Wellington Phoenix have signed striker Hamish Watson as a Hyundai A-League injury replacement for sidelined star Roy Krishna.

The 22-year-old joins the club from New Zealand outfit Hawke’s Bay United where he has scored six goals in 11 appearances this season.

Watson is a former Phoenix Football School of Excellence player and played two games for the senior side in the 2013/14 A-League campaign.

The striker has also played in England with Grimsby Town and Gainsborough Trinity and represented New Zealand at the Under-20 FIFA World Cup in 2013.

Watson is the second attacker to join the Phoenix in recent weeks after the arrival of Englishman Alex Jones on loan from Birmingham City.
