Wellington Phoenix right behind Samba’s ACL fundraising recovery mission

The Wellington Phoenix are backing Sabitra ‘Samba’ Bhandari’s quest for financial support for her knee operation and rehabilitation, which has gained significant momentum in recent days.
League insurance would have covered Samba’s knee surgery in New Zealand, but not the estimated $80,000 USD cost of the operation and seven to eight months of rehab at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Qatar.

The entire insurance payout the club receives will go towards Samba’s operation, but there was a big shortfall – a shortfall that was, incredibly, made up in the 24 hours up to the 24th February, thanks to the generosity of her huge fanbase – in particular the Nepalese community.
As such, the Asian superstar took to her social accounts to provide the below update.
How Samba responded to the overwhelming amount of support for her crowdfunding mission.
Now, her wish of receiving treatment at the world renowned Aspetar facility, where she had her ACL surgery in 2021, will become a reality.
The Phoenix’s medical team have worked tirelessly to ensure Samba is in optimal condition for her operation, and the club hope she can secure a date for her surgery in the near future so we can all see Samba back in yellow and black as soon as possible.
