Fifteen years of Glory! Join the anniversary celebrations at nib Stadium as Perth take on the comeback kings.
It’s time to celebrate! Saturday’s game against Sydney FC is one you simply do not want to miss, as it marks the 15th anniversary of Perth Glory, and there is a cracking night in store for supporters.
There will be plenty of special guests in attendance on the big night, including the club’s Most Glorious 15. The West Australian newspaper will exclusively reveal which players were voted by fans in the Most Glorious 15 team and they will be paraded before the game and lining up in the Crossbar Challenge at half-time.
You can show your support for your club by grabbing yourself one of the final batch of limited edition NO GUTS, NO GLORY t-shirts for a mere ten bucks inside Gate 1.
Celebrations aside, the Shed will be hoping that their players can find an upturn in form after another disappointing trip to New South Wales last weekend.
A double in the first 11 minutes from Newcastle striker Jeremy Brockie got Perth off to the worst possible start and they never recovered. While they showed guts in the second-half and created a few chances for Shane Smeltz, he came up against a resolute and confident Jets defence.
Still, Saturday represents the chance to reprise the positive start they made to the season. With The Shed’s full support behind them, Glory are more than capable of victory. However, they come up against a team that is in the highest possible spirits at the moment.
Not only do Sydney FC make the trip to Perth unbeaten away from home, but they are proving themselves to be the comeback kings of the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season.
In the last three games, the Sky Blues have taken seven points from a losing position. After coming from a goal down to win in Adelaide and stealing a last-gasp equaliser in Melbourne, they outdid themselves on Sunday by clawing back a 2-0 deficit to win a thrilling encounter with Gold Coast United at Sydney Football Stadium.
It looked like being two defeats in as many home games as United sped into a two goal lead, but Sydney put in an amazing display in the last half-hour to grab three goals and send the Cove wild.
After Bruno Cazarine pulled one back, Nicky Carle showed sublime skill to create, and then score, his third goal in as many games, before an injury-time Karol Kisel penalty grabbed three astonishing points! The 11,051-strong crowd was in absolute dreamland!
It’s going to be one heck of a birthday party this Saturday as Perth Glory turns 15, and what better way to celebrate than with three crucial points? It’ll be a tough game against Sydney FC, so get along to nib Stadium and play your part in helping the club to a crucial victory.
Be involved in a proud night and an historic occasion!
