Go for Glory! Go for Gold! It’s the battle for the Iron Ore Cup and for three absolutely vital points! Don’t miss it!
Perth Glory v Gold Coast United
Saturday 3rd December, 7.00pm
Go for Glory! Go for Gold! It’s the battle for the Iron Ore Cup and for three absolutely vital points! Don’t miss it!
While the Iron Ore Cup is up for grabs on Saturday, more pressing for both these sides is the three points that would come with it. With Perth Glory and Gold Coast United desperate to stem their run of games without a win, and eyeing this Saturday as a perfect opportunity to do it, this game is set to be an amazingly full-blooded contest.
Perth will be hopeful of a win, as the league’s bottom side make up their opponents, but there is no such thing as a certainty in the Hyundai A-League.
Despite their position, Gold Coast United aren’t a bad side, so if the home team are to pick up the victory that will give their season a lift, then they will need The Shed to be in full voice for the entire 90 minutes.
You’ve shown incredible support through thick and thin over the last couple of seasons, so now it is once again time to prove that you are 100 per cent behind your players. Give them the boost they need to get back to winning ways!
As Glory prepare for this weekend’s game, they would do well to put the memory of Saturday behind them. Sometimes, you’re simply on a hiding to nothing.
When Perth Glory travelled to Suncorp Stadium, they did so in the knowledge that they would be playing a team one game away from breaking the 74-year-old record of 35 unbeaten games set by NSW Rugby League club Eastern Suburbs.
If ever a club and its supporters were going to be fired up to win, it was Brisbane. And so it proved, with the home side racing into a four-goal lead by the interval. Still, Glory did well, after the nightmare first-half, to stand firm and not concede in the second period.
They’ll take some heart from how they shut up shop in the second-half and will aim to carry that solidity into their match-up with the team that is propping up the rest of the ladder.
Gold Coast United have now lost four matches on the bounce, which is something that has been unheard of since they joined the Hyundai A-League. Still, they showed signs of encouragement in last week’s rollercoaster loss to Melbourne Victory.
Two-nil behind in an intense atmosphere, Miron Bleiberg’s men showed real spirit to pull the score back to 2-2. With a little more discipline, they could have completed a phenomenal turnaround and taken home the win, but instead fell foul to Carlos Hernandez’s late header.
A boost for United was that hardman Jonas Salley was able to fight his way through the red tape and make his debut against Victory. He is set to be a key player for Gold Coast, as Bleiberg scratches his head for an answer to his side’s defensive headaches.
It’s time for Perth to go for Gold! Get yourself along to nib Stadium and lend your voice as your players seek a much-needed win. This is an absolutely crucial match and noise from the stands will make all the difference. It’s time to show unequivocal passion and intensity. Guts will lead to Glory!
