This Friday, get to AAMI Park one more time as Victory look to end their home campaign on a high with a win over Wellington.

Melbourne Victory play their last home game of the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season on Friday night and, while they won’t be competing in the finals next month, they are desperate to finish their campaign as strongly as possible.

So score your ticket today and prepare to show some seriously vocal support as your side look to complete a hat-trick of triumphs over Wellington Phoenix.

If anything can give Victory confidence of ending their home campaign with a win, it is surely those two previous triumphs over Phoenix this campaign. Indeed, they were the first team they managed to beat (and, in fact, to score against) in the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season.

In Week Four, they earned a gritty 2-1 victory in New Zealand thanks to goals from Archie Thompson and Carlos Hernandez. Wellington, who were reduced to 10 men, pulled one back through Dani Sanchez, but Melbourne held out for a win they hoped would kick-start their season.

It didn’t happen, however, and Victory only won once more before these two sides met again in Week 11. So they were delighted to take another three points from Phoenix at AAMI Park.

All three of their goals came inside the first 25 minutes, with Archie Thompson slotting home on four minutes, before Vince Lia deflected into his own net and Diogo Ferreira then put the game to bed. Alex Smith’s late goal did little to dampen spirits at AAMI Park.

If these matches prove anything, it is that battles between the two teams are hard-fought, passionate affairs, so get along to this clash and see Hyundai A-League action at its toughest.

While Victory are playing for nothing but pride, there is plenty riding on this game for Wellington Phoenix, as they look to wrap up home advantage in the finals.

Their two defeats to this weekend’s hosts have been somewhat anomalous in what has been a fantastic campaign for the New Zealanders. With everything still to play for, they will undoubtedly provide an incredibly tough test for the men from Victoria this weekend.

Before the long winter kicks in, be sure to get to AAMI Park for your side’s last home game in what has been an exciting season. While the finals were a step too far for Jim Magilton and his men, there have been some crackers served up, like the 2-2 draw with Brisbane, the five-goal thriller against the Gold Coast and the fine wins over Wellington and Central Coast Mariners.

So, let’s get AAMI Park rocking for one last time in the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season as your players try to provide another belter of a game for their incredible home support!
