AAMI Park hosts Mehmet Durakovic’s Melbourne Victory for the first time in the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season this Sunday, and what a vital battle it is, as their opponents are one of only two sides below them in the league.

Then, a Carlos Hernandez penalty and Danny Allsopp’s close-range effort looked to have put Victory on course for a second win of the season. With Glory having lost their previous three and also down to ten men, it seemed certain the home side would put the game to bed.
However a brilliant free-kick from Andrezinho and a Shane Smeltz header saw the win slip from Victory’s grasp. There can be no such sloppiness on display this Sunday, if they are to go one better.
Gold Coast United will be hoping more than ever that their second clash with a Melbourne side in as many weeks will have a happier outcome this time round.
They arrive at AAMI Park rock-bottom of the ladder after falling last weekend at Skilled Park to Victory’s rivals, Heart. The loss was a club record third consecutive defeat as goals from Matt Thompson and Jonathan Germano did the damage either side of a stunning 63rd-minute free kick from Peter Jungschlager.
