Show your support at Skilled Park on Sunday, as United look to get revenge on a team that has turned them over twice this season.
Following your football team is easy when they are sitting at the top end of the ladder and winning games week in, week out, but it is when your club is in the kind of turmoil that Gold Coast United finds itself that your support is most crucial.
Your players have pulled on the yellow jerseys with pride and given their absolute all every game in the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 season, so get along to Skilled Park on Sunday and show them that you appreciate their efforts.
The two matches so far this season between the clubs suggest that this will be an especially tough test for the Gold Coast.
Perth have taken six points from United, scored six times and not conceded in the process. Earlier in the season, Mile Sterjovski opened the scoring before former Beach hero Shane Smeltz wrapped up the points in the second-half.
The fact that both goals came from the spot after United gave away silly penalties illustrates a lack of discipline that has caused the ladder’s bottom club problems on a number of occasions in this Hyundai A-League season.
If that defeat was disappointing, then the next clash between the sides was a disaster for the Gold Coast. Glory went ahead after 18 minutes through Steven McGarry’s finish and could have already been out of sight before Liam Miller and Travis Dodd wrapped things up. Adama Traore’s own goal summed up a nightmare performance from United.
However, the cellar dwellers will at least be buoyed by a fine performance last weekend which came close to bringing them a fantastic away win.
A goal from youngster Daniel Bowles and then an incredible defensive display looked like it had earned them three points in Newcastle, but a Nikolai Topor-Stanley header at the death meant they had to settle for just one.
Still, a draw at the Hunter Stadium is a fine result, and will send them into this clash hopeful of going one better against Perth Glory.
Glory though head into this tussle absolutely buzzing after toppling the ladder leaders last Sunday and guaranteeing their spot in the finals.
Travis Dodd’s goal was enough to secure the impressive triumph which means that home advantage in the elimination final is almost a certainty too.
They are new wrestling for third spot with Wellington Phoenix and will therefore by determined to make the long journey home to Western Australia with three points under their belts.
Will Perth leave Skilled Park victorious or can the Gold Coast gain some morale-boosting revenge over the side that has turned them over on two occasions and finally give their fans something to cheer about in what has been the hardest season imaginable? Be at Skilled Park on Sunday and find out.
