Sydney FC skipper Alex Brosque was pleased with his side’s improved performance but lamented their wasteful finishing in Wednesday night’s ACL draw with Shanghai Shenhua in China.
Following last week’s 2-0 loss to Suwon Bluewings in their opening group game, Sydney impressed in a highly-entertaining 2-2 draw at Shanghai Stadium.
All four goals came in a pulsating first half with quick-fire strikes to Luke Wilkshire and Alex Brosque putting Sydney FC 2-1 up just past the half-hour mark.

Fredy Guarín levelled the game for the hosts just five minutes before the break, with the Sky Blues unable to capitalise on a host of chances in the second half as the match ended all square.
“We were much better tonight, we moved the ball around a lot more and on another night we might have made it four or five. I think we should have won,” Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque said.
“We switched off a bit in patches but we could have been a little more clinical tonight.
“It is harder in the AFC Champions League with the quality but you get more space so you just have to move the ball around well.”
The Sky Blues remain bottom of Group H following two matches and will face group-leaders Kashima Antlers at home on March 7.
