Brisbane Roar have appointed foundation player Warren Moon as their new Hyundai A-League Head Coach for the remainder of the 2019/20 Season.
He takes the reins from Robbie Fowler who left the club during the competition hiatus due to Covid 19.
Moon, who has had a highly-successful stint as Head Coach of NPL Queensland outfit Lions FC, returned to Roar in September 2019 as part of the club’s Academy.
Roar holds a special place in the heart of Moon, who played in the club’s first ever Hyundai A-League fixture in 2005.
“It’s a great privilege to be appointed as Head Coach of this great football club,” Moon said.
“As one of the club’s inaugural players, Brisbane Roar has always meant a great deal to me. It was an honour to return to the club in its Academy, and now to continue as Head Coach of its Hyundai A-League squad.

Moon’s first match in charge comes in Sunday’s crucial clash with Adelaide United at CBUS Super Stadium, with kick-off at 7.30pm AEST.
Moon’s unveiling caps a big few days for the club, who has also bolstered its midfield stocks with the signing of New Zealand international Matthew Ridenton for the remainder of the campaign.
At just 24 years of age, Ridenton brings with him a wealth of Hyundai A-League experience with 102 appearances under his belt at Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle Jets.
The five-time All Whites representative becomes the second addition to the squad in as many days, alongside Lions FC product Danny Kim.
