Wanderers edge Sydney FC to seal spot in decider
A Sydney derby concluded the Y-League home-and-away season and the Sky Blues entered the match on top of Conference B, goal difference ahead of the Wanderers.
A draw would have been enough for Sydney FC to book their spot in the 2018/19 Grand Final and things were looking good when Benjamin Koop opened the scoring in the 19th minute.
But Mohamed Adam capped a wonderful flowing Wanderers move on the stroke of half-time, turning in Thomas Aquilina’s cross to restore parity.
A nervy second half followed before John Roberts nodded in an 82nd-minute winner after a corner was not cleared properly.
Players were ordered off the pitch as stoppage time approached due to significant lightning and no action took place for an hour before the match commissioner said the 2-1 result would stand.

Roar win Conference A with impressive display
Brisbane Roar sealed their spot in the decider with a 2-0 win at Lakeside Stadium against Melbourne Victory on Friday.
Victory have struggled this season and fell behind when Shannon Brady netted in the 45th minute.
And the Roar wrapped all three points 10 minutes from time, a welcome response to a 2-1 defeat at Adelaide United last time out.
Daniel Lack produced the match-sealing goal for Brisbane.

Vidosic-inspired City end on a high
Melbourne City finished just goal difference behind the Roar in Conference A after winning 2-1 at Adelaide United.
Apostolos Stamatelopoulos gave United the lead after just three minutes but City star Dario Vidosic quickly levelled proceedings.
The ex-Caltex Socceroo struck in the 17th minute and set up a tense second half, eventually settled by Dylan Pierias.
Pierias struck with just five minutes to play to ensure City ended the season on a winning note.
Despite a final round win over Adelaide, we miss out on the #YLeague Grand Final on goal difference. Congrats to our lads for another positive season.

Canberra United win first points of the season
Canberra United ensured they did not end the Y-League season pointless in a 1-1 home draw against Newcastle Jets.
Jets looked on course for victory after Jack Simmons’ 10th-minute goal.
But a super sub for the boys in green proved decisive, with Bul Juach introduced in the 70th minute for Nik Popovich.
Juach then went on to net an 84th-minute equaliser for United.
