Radoslaw Majewski has suffered a serious knee injury and will be sidelined for an indefinite period, Western Sydney Wanderers confirmed on Thursday.
The Polish playmaker, who arrived at the club on a one-year deal in July, was injured during training on Wednesday after a collision with teammate Dylan McGowan.
Scans have since shown suspected anterior cruciate and medial ligament injuries for the 32-year-old.
Wanderers medical staff will continue to monitor the injury until a final assessment and rehabilitation timeline is established.
Majewski – a Polish Cup and Super Cup winner – joined the Wanderers from Polish Ekstraklasa outfit Pogon Szczecin.
He featured in 37 matches and scored eight goals across all competitions last season.
