The Sydney Derby war of words continued on Thursday with Wanderers star Brendon Santalab saying Sydney FC’s comments this week about his club and the derby were “disappointing”.
Alex Brosque, the captain of Sydney FC, told the club’s business luncheon on Wednesday that he “hated every one” at the Wanderers.
Coach Arnold added the Wanderers lacked experience saying ANZ Stadium was also their venue given the Sky Blues had already played a number of games at the venue.

“The sledging never has been part of me before games. It’s all about preparation and focus,” he told reporters.
“Brosquey’s a great guy so to hear him say that is a little bit disappointing.
“Maybe because his family follow the Wanderers I’m not too sure.
“There’s a red and black net here,” Santalab added, pointing to the goals.
“We’re at home, so I don’t know where Arnie pulled that one from.
“But he loves the pre-game banter. We won’t buy into that. We’re focussed on what we have to do. It’s round one and everything is up for stake [sic] and if you win you take a lot of confidence into the season.”
Santalab did concede the Wanderers were a younger squad this season.
He also admitted the Wanderers go into this game lacking somewhat in match fitness having last played a competitive game in the FFA Cup quarter final on September 21.
But he’s raring to go and expecting a physical encounter.
“The pitch is looking in good condition. [The game] could be brutal. That’s what’s expected.
“There’s a lot more than three points at stake.
“It’s set to be an epic night, that’s for sure,” said Santalab.
