Western Sydney Wanderers have signed Spanish central defender Alberto Aguilar for the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.
With 285 senior La Liga and Segunda division appearances to his credit, including 16 goals, the 185cm defender will bring a wealth of experience to the Hyundai A-League.
Starting 11 seasons ago in Malaga before stints at Getafe, Albacete and Cordoba, Alberto finished his time in Spain last season with 29 appearances for Ponferradina.
Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said Alberto would be an exciting addition to Tony Popovic’s side ahead of the 2015/16 season.
“Alberto is a fine defender, has had a very good career in Spain and like Dimas and Andreu will join the Wanderers with a new challenge in front of him which I am sure he will embrace,” said Tsatsimas.
“We have worked very hard behind-the-scenes to ensure that our squad will be well prepared for the coming season and from a recruitment perspective we have a very exciting and hungry group of players preparing for our Hyundai A-League season and the upcoming Westfield FFA Cup.”
Alberto will join the Club later this week.
The Western Sydney Wanderers host Brisbane Roar in the Westfield FFA Cup at Pepper Stadium, Penrith, on Tuesday 11 August. Kick-off to the Round of 32 fixture is 7:30pm and will be broadcast on Fox Sports.
