Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the six-month deal of midfielder Jordon Mutch for the A-League 2020/21 season.
Western Sydney Wanderers’ hopes of being an A-League force in 2020/21 have received a major boost with the signing of former Premier League midfielder Jordon Mutch.
Mutch has inked a one-season deal with Carl Robinson’s side having most recently played in Norway’s top-flight with Aalesunds FK.
But he is best remembered for his stints in England’s highest competitions, including in the Premier League with Crystal Palace and Cardiff City, where he featured almost 80 times.
The 29-year-old has also played with the likes of Birmingham City and Watford, while he also had a stint under Robinson at Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS.
“Coming to the Western Sydney Wanderers is an opportunity to work again with, in my opinion, the best manager I’ve worked under and to play for the biggest club in Australia is exciting,” said Mutch on the Wanderers’ website.
“I have learned a lot from the different cultures, leagues, and playing under many top managers which I have gained a lot of experience from.

“It’s taught me how much I love the game and to stay dedicated to it as it’s only a short career.
“I have watched the A-League here in the UK and also played in Asia in the Asian Champions League so I have seen a lot of matches and I expect it to be a very competitive league as there are many good teams in it.
“I had the opportunity to work with Robbo (head coach Carl Robinson) at Vancouver Whitecaps. He brings out the best in people as a player and a person, I am delighted to get the opportunity to play under him again.”
Mutch not only brings a wealth of experience to the Wanderers midfield but also a much-needed winning mentality.

He’s been part of squads that have won both the English Championship and League Cup, while also finishing as a runner-up in the FA Cup and Canadian Championship.
“Jordon brings experience and quality having played at a high level to show and will show some of our younger players the levels that are needed day in and day out,” said Robinson.
“He is a leader by the way he trains and plays and will fit into the squad very well with his character as we continue to influence the culture and environment.”
Mutch will link up with the squad at the end of the month following his arrival in Australia and mandatory quarantine in Sydney.
The Wanderers, who lost their opening match 1-0 to Macarthur FC last month, are next in action on Friday night, January 8, against the Newcastle Jets.
