The Wanderers will play a friendly in the national capital as part of their preparations for the Westfield FFA Cup and AFC Asian Champions League quarter finals.
The red and black face Canberra FC at Deakin Stadium on July 30 as the national capital gets a taste of high quality Hyundai A-League teams.
With a maiden Westfield FFA Cup campaign followed by a two-legged AFC Champions League Quarter Final, Tony Popovic’s men will play games against state league opposition in preparation for the first competition matches of the season.
Macarthur Rams and APIA Leichhardt will also play host to Western Sydney before the team heads to South Australia to face Adelaide City in a historic Westfield FFA Cup encounter against the three-time NSL champions.
On Wednesday 20 August, Wanderers return to Parramatta Stadium for the first time this season when Guangzhou Evergrande visits for the AFC Champions League Quarter Final. The return leg will be played in China the following week.
A positive result will see the Wanderers contest the Champions League Semi Finals held on Wednesday 17 September and Tuesday 30 September which would mean a potential Westfield FFA Cup second round match [planned for 16 September] would have to be moved to an alternate date.
If the Wanderers do not progress to the Champions League Semi Finals then a match against Wellington Phoenix has been pencilled in for Sunday 28 September.
