Wanderers secure another famous win in ACL

The Western Sydney Wanderers have claimed the first win by a Hyundai A-League club in this season’s AFC Champions League following a 3-2 triumph away to FC Seoul on Wednesday night.

A maiden ACL goal from young striker Lachlan Scott opened the scoring, while Terry Antonis put the visitors two goals to the good from the penalty spot before the break.

The Wanderers extended their lead after the interval when they punished FC Seoul on the counter, with Jaushua Sotirio applying a composed finish to seemingly put the result beyond doubt.

However a sublime brace from Korea Republic international Yun Il-Lok in a six minute period midway through the second stanza ensured a grandstand finish.

FC Seoul threw everything they had in attack in the closing stages, with Il-Lok coming close to sealing a hat-trick, however the Wanderers defence held strong to secure a valuable three points.

The result lifts Tony Popovic’s side to third in Group F and they’ll be confident of banking another win when they welcome FC Seoul to Campbelltown Stadium on Matchday 4 next month.
