Wanderers’ Saudi popularity angers Al-Hilal fans

Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proving a Twitter sensation in Saudi Arabia as thousands of supporters of Al-Hilal’s rivals jump on the bandwagon for Tony Popovic’s side.

Wanderers have qualified for the AFC Champions League final and will take on Saudi Arabian giant Al-Hilal over two legs – at home on October 25 at Parramatta Stadium before the second game in Riyadh a week later.

And while the Aussies have phenomenal support on the terraces and across western Sydney, if their popularity on social media in Saudi is any gauge, there’ll be plenty of red and black fans in Saudi for the second leg.
