Western Sydney Wanderers FC skipper Nikolai Topor-Stanley says his side will be confident of finishing the job and booking their Asian Champions League final spot in their home leg in a fortnight.
In a typically dogged defensive display in Korea, the Wanderers repelled everything FC Seoul threw at them to secure a hard-fought 0-0 draw on Wednesday night.
While they were unable to score a crucial away goal – and were held scoreless for the first time in the competition – Tony Popovic’s side know they will make the final with a win at Parramatta Stadium on October 1.
“It will be a whole different ball game,” Topor-Stanley told Fox Sports.
“These clubs in Asia aren’t used to travelling 10 hours out to us so in front of our home fans we’ll take a lot of confidence into the game.”
Topor-Stanley led by example for the visitors at Seoul World Cup Stadium, marshalling his defence superbly throughout a tense 90 minutes where they were on the back foot for long periods.
“It was a very tough test for us but a clean sheet away from home I’ll take that every day,” he said.
“I’m proud of the boys, our work-rate was phenomenal and as I said we’ll take a clean sheet away from home.”
The Wanderers will be boosted for the return tie with Tomi Juric, Brendon Santalab and Shannon Cole all back after missing the leg through suspension.
