Mark Bridge says Western Sydney Wanderers FC are feeling “physically and mentally” refreshed following a grueling schedule as they aim to make more history for the club next week.
The Wanderers are just 90 minutes away from becoming just the second Australian side to make an ACL final if they can beat FC Seoul in their semi-final second leg at Parramatta on October 1.
Coach Tony Popovic gave his squad the weekend off after a recent schedule which has included long trips to Korea, China and Dubai over the last few weeks.
And Bridge says the down-time is just what the squad needed to ensure they are at peak condition to topple FC Seoul and progress to the final.
“It’s been a tough month. A lot of travel involved, a lot of games and some difficult conditions,” the striker said on Monday.
“We had a couple of days off over the weekend which was good to refresh, not just physically but mentally as well.
“Now we’re back into prepare for that big one in 10 days’ time. Everyone’s fit, we’re looking good and I’m sure training’s going to be very intense this week to prepare.”
Bridge said the return from suspension of Tomi Juric, Shannon Cole and Brendon Santalab for the second leg was a huge boost for the squad.
