The Wanderers had great news for their fans today with the club announcing a one-year contract extension for Spanish midfielder Dimas.
Wanderers can win the league: Popovic
Since arriving in Western Sydney, Dimas has endeared himself to Wanderers fans and teammates with a string of impressive performances in the Red & Black.
The 33-year-old holding midfielder has created a formidable partnership in the heart of the Wanderers midfield with countryman Andreu and Mitch Nichols.
The former Barcelona B player has played 22 matches for the Wanderers so far this season, scoring two goals.
Dimas credited the friends and Club environment at the Wanderers for re-signing.
“I am very, very happy to re-sign for the Wanderers and hopefully next year we have another strong season as we had so far this year,” said Dimas.
“I am enjoying this season very much as there are a lot of beautiful people in this club and I have a great relationship with my teammates.
“At first when my wife and I arrived in Australia it was a little difficult for us as we missed our family and friends but the friends I have made here have made it very easy for us both and we are really enjoying life.
“I think I am playing good football because I am happy and have a good relationship with my teammates and I think I am improving every day. My focus now is on continuing to improve myself and the team this season.”
Dimas will take his position in the heart of the Wanderers midfield again this Sunday as the club takes on Newcastle Jets at Hunter Stadium. Kick-off is at 5pm with live coverage on Fox Sports 505.
