Desperate to cement their Hyundai A-League finals berth, Western Sydney Wanderers keeper Vedran Janjetovic has implored his side not to underestimate Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
BEWARE THE WOUNDED JETS
The Jets’ finals hopes extinguished last weekend after they were crushed 5-0 by Wellington Phoenix, extending their winless run to seven matches.
“We can’t underestimate anyone in this league,” Janjetovic said.
“They’re coming off a few bad losses, so they’re going to be pumped to get a result and they’re going to want to get a good result in front of their home fans.
“We have to get the job done and we’ve had a good week in training so hopefully we can continue our roll.”Â
WANDERERS HITTING PEAK FORM
Tony Popovic’s troops are currently enjoying a rich vein of form with three consecutive wins.
Janjetovic admits spirits are high and says the turnaround has been the culmination of hard work and belief.Â
“It’s been a good run from us over the last couple of weeks, especially with the ACL kicking it off for us, so everyone is good to go.
“I think it just took time for us to get a few things rolling and I think everything is falling into place at the right time,” he said.
“We’re taking it game by game, so Newcastle is our target.Â
“We’re in the top six as it stands so we’re not going to look too far ahead. If any results happen to go our way, we’ll take them.”
