Football Federation Australia (FFA) has determined that Western Sydney Wanderers FC’s player, Scott Neville, breached the FFA National Code of Conduct (the Code) by his actions in relation to the Round 2 Hyundai A-League match between Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Adelaide United on 14 October 2016. Neville made an offensive gesture to the crowd.
Neville was asked to make a submission to FFA in response to the allegation, which he has done so.
FFA determined to sanction Neville with a reprimand and $1,000 fine. In determining the sanction, FFA took into account that Neville:
· accepted that his conduct was unacceptable; and
· is remorseful and apologetic for his conduct.
In addition, FFA has warned Neville that any further breach of the Code could result in more severe sanctions being applied.
Neville will not appeal FFA’s determination.
