Western Sydney Wanderers withstood a late rally from Brisbane Roar to win 2-1 in a friendly behind-closed-doors on Friday afternoon at Cbus Stadium on the Gold Coast.
Wanderers took a 2-0 lead to the break courtesy of Mario Shabow and Jaushua Sotirio.
The Brisbane outfit hit back in the second half with a Thomas Broich goal.
The western Sydney outfit hit the bar in the final 10 minutes but couldn’t extend their lead.
Wanderers started with former Victory player Dylan Murnane and had new signings Robbie Cornthwaite and Jumpei Kusukami feature as late substitutes.
Roar had on their teamsheet former Victory striker Joey Katebian, who came off the bench.
Roar face Perth Glory in the Westfield FFA Cup on MD4 on August 10, while Wanderers are home to Phoenix next Tuesday night on MD2.
