Wanderland is set to get even louder this season with an extra 4000 seats to be installed as part of a $29 million upgrade to Pirtek stadium.
A report in today’s Daily Telegraph says works will begin in the next few weeks to install the extra seats behind the existing terraces at both the northern and southern ends.
The stadium’s capacity will now rise to 24,700.
As part of the works, all seats will be replaced throughout the stadium, Wi-Fi technology installed, a bigger video screen and LED signage installed.
The stadium’s surface will also be relayed while the players’ change-rooms will also be modernized, with the full facelift expected to be completed by next September.
This news will please the Wanderers who have been forced to cap their ticketed members at 15,500 due to the ground’s current limited capacity.
More than 2000 fans are currently on a waiting list for season tickets.
Western Sydney Wanderers chief executive John Tsatsimas described the improvements as a “positive first step” and said the club hoped the venue would continue to “grow with us” to create a long-term home.
