Central Coast Mariners coach Tony Walmsley heaped praised on Brisbane Roar’s performance after his side suffered a 6-1 loss away to the reigning Hyundai A-League champions.
The visitors conceded three goals in each half at Suncorp Stadium for a third loss in four matches, leaving Walmsley to applaud the reinvigorated opposition.

“The honest truth is Brisbane were fantastic tonight,” he said.
“We weren’t expecting that and I guess after the run Brisbane have had they weren’t expecting that.
“I can only reflect on a superior performance from Brisbane. More power, they got numbers around the ball quicker than we did.
“All the things we had intention to do, we were outdone by a better football team today.”
Despite the poor recent run of results, the Mariners boss remained confident about his team’s quality.
“I’m not going to write anybody off,” Walmsley said.
“The young players will be compared to everybody else and if they perform well at training they will get a go.
“You learn more every day. Let’s reflect on to this point a really positive shift in mentality and in performance.”
