The 2018/19 season may not be one that lives long in the memory of Newcastle Jets fans but the performances of talisman Dimitri Petratos should not be underplayed.
The Hunter club’s do-it-yourself specialist, Petratos sensationally led the Hyundai A-League in chances created, crosses and shots taken. Perhaps a more consistent supporting cast would have helped the Aussie winger shine even more brightly.
Dutch playmaker Siem de Jong made his mark in a Sydney FC jersey, producing some special Hyundai A-League moments, while Kiwi danger man Kosta Barbarouses produced a career-best goalscoring season, netting 14 times for Melbourne Victory.
A huge reason for Perth’s upturn in fortunes in 2018/19 was the arrival of Chris Ikonomidis, whose nine goals and five assists in 20 games helped fire Glory towards lifting the Premiers Plate.
