The 2018/19 campaign certainly threw up plenty of outstanding candidates to choose from.

Perth Glory attacker Diego Castro certainly did not go down in that race without a fight. The Spaniard was exceptional in Perth’s Premiers Plate-winning campaign, scoring nine goals and registering five assists.
Also in contention was Castro’s Glory teammate Neil Kilkenny. The experienced midfielder was the heartbeat of Perth’s hunt for silverware, and he popped up with key passes, crucial goals and big defensive contributions every week.

Keisuke Honda was unable to crown his campaign in Australia with silverware for Melbourne Victory, but the Japanese star made quite the impression nonetheless. Honda scored seven goals and tallied seven assists in 20 matches, as well as winning a new legion of fans everywhere he went.
Like Kilkenny and Honda, Adelaide United stalwart Isaias was the midfield heartbeat of his club’s season. The Spaniard combined class on the ball with a feverish work-rate, and led the charge week in, week out for Marco Kurz’s side.
Finally, Sydney FC will be recalling Rhyan Grant‘s season for years to come. The fullback’s superb form on the domestic front led to a Caltex Socceroos recall, and he was often the driving force behind the Sky Blues’ Championship win.
