A quick glance at the top goalscorer list tells you a lot about being an effective striker.
Wellington Phoenix flyer Roy Krishna terrorised defences in 2018/19, taking out the Golden Boot with 18 goals in the regular season and winning the Johnny Warren Medal for his relentless performances.
Ex-Premier League front man Adam Le Fondre had a debut season to remember for Sydney FC, scoring 16 times in the regular season, while classy Swedish marquee forward Ola Toivonen produced some moments of sheer quality for Melbourne Victory.
Adam Taggart should not be forgotten. The Hyundai A-League’s top scoring Aussie notched 11 goals in only 18 games for Brisbane Roar before his domestic season ended with a move to K-League outfit Suwon Samsung Bluewings, where he has since netted five more.
Andy Keogh may not have made the Grand Final starting line up but the Irishman top scored for Premiers Perth Glory with 15 strikes, and Spanish maestro Diego Castro defied the ageing process to have one of his finest Hyundai A-League seasons at the ripe old age of 36.
