Socceroo Dario Vidosic is headed to Switzerland after Adelaide United agreed on a fee to transfer the attacking midfielder with FC Sion.

The Swiss Super League club signalled interest in the 26-year-old, who is eager to test himself in Europe again after he spent a four year stint in Germany prior to signing with the Reds.

“Dario has a great opportunity to play in Europe again which is something he was keen to do,” Adelaide United General Manager – Football Operations, Michael Petrillo said.

“After receiving a transfer request from FC Sion I can confirm that both clubs have agreed to terms for Dario-s transfer and at this stage it-s likely he will leave for Switzerland tonight.

“Dario was Adelaide United-s Club Champion last season, he has played some great games for us and we thank him for his contribution to the club over the last two years and wish him well for the future.

“Whilst leaving a big hole to fill I am sure that we have players within the squad who can step up, and over the ensuing weeks we will explore any other suitable options that will strengthen the squad for season nine.”

Vidosic, who filled the Reds- Australian marquee spot, made a total of 60 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 15 goals.

“I would like to thank everyone at Adelaide United, from all of the team mates I-ve played with, to the coaching staff and all of the supporters for the past two years,” Vidosic said.

“I-ve really enjoyed my time in Adelaide. It-s a bit sad leaving at this point in time with all of the excitement around the team, but this is a great opportunity that I couldn-t knock back.

“I-ll definitely still be supporting the boys from Switzerland, and again I just want to thank the club for everything and wish them every success this season.”
