Video – Roar fitter than ever

Brisbane Roar captain Matt Smith says the reigning champions’ squad are in their best condition yet.

Brisbane Roar captain Matt Smith says the reigning champions’ pre-season preparations have the squad in their best condition yet.

Following the team-s first pre-season game, a 5-0 rout of state league side Brisbane Olympic, Smith said his team are enjoying the pre-season routine and were impressed by new signing South Korean winger Do Dong-Hyun.

“We-ve been training for a couple of weeks so it-s important that we can get in a couple of games. If you ask any player and it-s definitely preferable playing matches,” Smith said.

“This is the best shape I-ve seen a lot of the boys come back to … They had to tone it down a bit. And the excitement going into this year has been driving the group to get in amongst it. When you-ve got a new manager you-ve got a clean slate.”
