Victory’s Georgievski named to face Socceroos

Daniel Georgievski could face Melbourne Victory teammate Mark Milligan at international level after being selected to represent FYR Macedonia this month.

Georgievski has been named in FYR Macedonia’s squad for a Euro 2016 qualifier against Belarus on March 27 and a friendly against the Socceroos on March 30.

Both matches will be played in Macedonian capital of Skopje, with Georgievski to miss Melbourne Victory’s home game against Central Coast Mariners at AAMI Park on Friday, March 27.

He joins Milligan (Socceroos), Kosta Barbarouses (New Zealand) and Scott Galloway, Jason Geria and Connor Pain (Olyroos), who will also be absent due to international commitments.

Milligan has been picked for Australia’s international friendlies against Germany in Kaiserlautern on March 25 and FYR Macedonia.

If Georgievski and Milligan both feature, it will be the first time two current Melbourne Victory teammates have played for opposing sides at full international level.

Georgievski has made 20 appearances for FYR Macedonia, with his most recent coming in a friendly against Qatar in May last year.
