Melbourne Victory forward Besart Berisha has made his international debut for Kosovo, starting in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Iceland.
Berisha, playing in the number 10 role, put in a tireless shift at the Loro Borici Stadium as Kosovo suffered a valiant 2-1 loss on Friday.
Bjorn Sigurdarson gave Iceland a 25th-minute lead before Gylfi Sigurdsson doubled the advantage from the spot 10 minutes later.
Kosovo pegged one back through Atdhe Nuhiu early in the second half, though the hosts were unable to find an equaliser.
Berisha, who was replaced by Bernard Berisha in the 83rd minute, will return to Australia for the rest of Victory’s Hyundai A-League campaign.
