Long-serving Melbourne Victory chief executive Geoff Miles will step down from the job at the end of the year.
Miles, the CEO of the club for five years, leaves to pursue other interests after a successful stint in charge of one of the Hyundai A-League’s success stories.
“Football clubs bring people together, and my greatest satisfaction is seeing the enjoyment that our fans have had on the Melbourne Victory journey to date,” Miles said.
“On the back of their extraordinary support, we have experienced success in a very competitive environment. The two championship successes have been a highlight, but the strong community partnerships that we have developed are equally important, enabling us to make a significant difference to our great city and state, and the growth of football in general.”
“I’ve been fortunate to work with a great team of people at the club building a strong base for future success and growth. It has been a privilege to be in this role, and I greatly appreciate the opportunity given to me by our chairman, Geoff Lord and the board, and acknowledge the enormous support of everyone connected with the club.”
Melbourne Victory chairman Geoff Lord paid tribute to Miles’ contribution to the club during a period of enormous growth for both the club and the game.
“Geoff has given us a very solid platform for our future, building strong membership, corporate and community support, contributing to our success on the pitch and a positive profile and image in the community,” he said.
“Under Geoff’s leadership we have built a powerful connection with our fans, a strong membership base, partnerships with our stakeholders including community organisations, grass roots football and Government, and extensive corporate support in a highly competitive market.”
