Casey Dumont is not going anywhere, with the resilient Melbourne Victory star re-signing with the Liberty A-League champions for another two seasons.
Dumont was the Grand Final hero in 2021-22 – her heart-and-soul performance guiding Victory past rivals Sydney FC in the A-League Women decider.
She was named the Grand Final Player of the Match, while Dumont also claimed the 2022 A-League Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, capping a remarkable journey for the 30-year-old, who snapped her Achilles tendon in 2020.
Dumont – one of the longest-serving players in the ALW, having signed her first contract as a 15-year-old in the competition’s inaugural season – is back for more, eyeing a fifth Championship.
“I can’t wait to get back to the pitch and to continue to work hard and win games with this incredible group.” Dumont said.
“I’m not resting on my laurels this season, I want to achieve more at Melbourne Victory and I’m determined to work every day on reaching the goals we set out at the start of the season.”
Dumont joined Victory in 2017 and last season, the three-time Australia international made 16 appearances to help Jeff Hopkins’ side to glory.
She was in the firing line in the 2022 showpiece but made a series of brilliant saves to thwart the Sky Blues.
“We’re incredibly pleased to have Casey back for another two seasons at the club,” said Melbourne Victory director of football John Didulica.
“Last season was an incredible season for the team and specifically Casey and we believe she will continue to push herself and those around her to achieve more success.
“Her talent was there for everyone to see last season and we’re thrilled to have an experienced goalkeeper like her in our ranks to lead the team and win everything that’s in front of us this season.”
On Tuesday, Victory also announced the signing of goalkeeper Miranda Templeman for the upcoming ALW season.
The 19-year-old and Young Matilda – who represented Australia at the Under-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup – arrives from Adelaide United.
Templeman is Victory’s second new signing after Jessika Nash.
“It’s an honour to be joining Melbourne Victory and working alongside the players and staff who have created an incredible culture for everyone in the squad,” Templeman said.
“I’ve come to the club to test myself every day and the only way I can do that is to give it my all and contribute to the team in every match and every session.”
