Victory to field full-strength FFA Cup side

Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat says he’ll pick the best team available for Wednesday’s Westfield FFA Cup semi-final against Hume City.

PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria side Hume is aiming to cause a Westfield FFA Cup upset at AAMI Park, with a spot in the Final against Perth Glory on Saturday, November 7 up for grabs.

“What tomorrow night represents for us is an opportunity to get into a cup final,” Muscat said on Tuesday.

“So the opposition – with all respect – is irrelevant, whether it’s Hume City or another A-League club.

“We’ve got to prepare well and then execute very well to reap the rewards of going to a cup final.

“I’ve always maintained that we’ll pick the best possible team available to win a game of football tomorrow.

Kevin Muscat puts his Victory players through their paces.

“Understanding the load going forward and the games, that obviously has to be taken into consideration.

“But, first and foremost, we’ll pick what we think is the best available team to win a game of football tomorrow night.”

Hume’s Westfield FFA Cup path saw it account for former NSL clubs Brisbane Strikers and Sydney Olympic, and then fellow Victorian team Oakleigh Cannons to reach the last four.

Victory enters the clash on the back of a 1-0 loss to the Newcastle Jets in the Hyundai A-League last Friday night, its first defeat in any competition since April.
