Melbourne Victory is continuing to focus on perfecting its style of play just three weeks from the start of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.
Victory continued its impressive pre-season with a 1-0 win over Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium on Wednesday.
In wet and windy conditions, Marco Rojas scored in his second appearance for Victory since his return to the club.
“From our perspective, I thought we started the game very brightly. I was very pleased,” Muscat said.
“If anything, we came in at half-time and I felt we didn’t get rewarded for the amount of pressure we put on them.
“In the second half, there were so many changes in the game and it lost a bit of momentum.”
Rojas and fellow recent signing James Troisi are increasing their workloads as they build towards the start of the season.
“We’ve still got a few players who’ve come in who are still adjusting,” Muscat said.
“We got some good minutes into them to top them up, so from that perspective we’re travelling pretty well.”
Victory made five changes to its starting line-up for the Adelaide match, with full-back Daniel Georgievski making an immediate impact by providing the assist for the Rojas goal.
The 28-year-old has been pleased with the team’s progression this pre-season, which started back in July.
“It’s a long pre-season. It seems like a lifetime ago we played Juventus and Atletico Madrid,” he said.
“Winning is just a bonus. It just means were sticking to our structure and doing what the boss asks of us.”
