Melbourne Victory received a hero’s welcome from their adoring fans as they took to AAMI Park to show off the Hyundai A-League Champions Trophy.
Kevin Muscat’s men flew home the day after a 1-0 win over Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium confirmed them as the first club to prevail in four Grand Finals.
They were greeted by a swarm of ecstatic supporters at the scene of their previous triumph in 2015.
Heroic goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas was unsurprisingly a popular target for selfies after scooping the Joe Marston Medal for his defiant display on Saturday night.
Victory’s success capped a stunning turnaround from a six-game winless start to the season which forced them to come from fourth in order to claim the silverware.
