Victory announce new assistant coach

Melbourne Victory has expanded its coaching staff, appointing former youth head coach Darren Davies as an assistant to Kevin Muscat.

“We believe that adding to our coaching resources will give us the best chance to have further success on the pitch,” Muscat said.

“Darren has a detailed knowledge of our club and our coaching philosophy, and he has a proven track record in developing players.

“As coaches, we aim to give our players development opportunities and football knowledge, which gives them the best chance to succeed.

“We’re excited knowing what Darren will bring to the club alongside Jean-Paul de Marigny and our coaching staff.”

Along with his previous stint at Victory, Davies’ coaching experience includes work at the Queensland Academy of Sport and as an assistant coach for the Young Socceroos.

“This is a great opportunity for me to work closely with Kevin, Jean-Paul and the rest of the coaching team at Victory,” Davies said.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to work with the club’s young players in the past and have enjoyed watching them develop and take their careers further.

“I’m looking forward to using my experience to assist the first-team players in the upcoming season.”
